Charity of the Quarter Update – Turn Around Bikes

| 470 words | 2 Minute Read |

Turn Around Bikes, affiliated with Northern Colorado Youth for Christ, not only sells and fixes bicycles, but also helps fight poverty, supports a healthy bike culture, and gets local youth around positive adult influence. This bike shop does it all!

Turn Around Bikes (TAB) is more than just a bike shop. Their mission is to help build a community. TAB receives donated bikes and fix them up to usable condition. Once refurbished, the bikes are donated back out to the community. Bikes have gone out to the Global Refugee Center, the Transitional House, the Boys and Girls Club, and more. Individuals get a reliable mode of transportation that is cost effective and encourages them to be independent and active.

As an affiliate of Northern Colorado Youth for Christ, Turn Around Bikes has also found a way to influence our local youth. Workshops are held throughout the week for youth to come and work on bikes. This is an opportunity for youth in disenfranchised situations to come to a good social environment, learn a skill by working with their hands, and be around adult role models. It’s another way NCYFC encourages youth to be in a healthy environment by doing the things they love.

They also have a hand in a healthy bike culture in the community. TAB support the efforts of the Bike Advocacy Group and Greeley Bikes and help host community bike events. They want to help teach the importance of bike safety and desire for the community to be involved in bike safety measures. Most of all, they support Safe Routes to School, teaching kids and their parents how to navigate routes to school safely when biking or walking.

Turn Around Bikes is open to the public, Tuesday thru Saturday at 134 11th Ave in Greeley. The shop has bikes for sale as well as Frisbee Golf discs and lots of swag. Bike parts are also sold and workstations to rent out for people to work on their bikes. There is a bike mechanic on site for help.

For those interested in volunteering with them, visit their website or contact Megan Packard at [email protected]. Local teens are also encouraged to volunteer where they can commit to a program to learn in-depth knowledge of bicycle mechanics and repair. Also, consider donating your unused bikes!

This program will benefit from our Charity of the Quarter referral program. Every time someone refers a friend, family member, or colleague for insurance through us, we will donate to Northern Colorado Youth for Christ. The referred person does not have to purchase a policy for the donation to count. Refer Here
